The N.F.C.D.A has some 700 members throughout the U.K.

The membership elects a committee of 24 to manage its affairs at the Annual General Meeting in Spring of each year. Its officers include a President, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Solicitor and Hon. Veterinary Surgeon, also elected at the A.G.M.

Members of the committee liaise with the Verderers of the New Forest, the Forestry Commission, English Nature, the New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society, and many other organisations, on matters of routine management of the Forest grazing and animal husbandry. They also represent the opinion of their members in the wider political debate on longer term management and the future of the Forest with the New Forest Committee, the District Council, Hampshire County Council and local Members of Parliament.
